Chlorine Resistant Swimwear
Whether you swim for leisure or training, selecting a long-lasting swimming costume is well worth the time and effort. However, not all fabrics are created equal.
A great chlorine resistant option is one that contains Lycra. Lycra is always blended with another fabric, usually nylon or polyester, to give it the ideal stretch, fit and resilience to be used as a swimwear material.
A traditional Lycra swimsuit will generally last less than 6 months – not great if you are a regular swimmer. If over-exposed to chlorine, the swimsuit will fade and start to become baggy as the chlorine breaks down the fibres.
The solution is to buy a costume that contains Lycra Xtra Life. Lycra Xtra Life delivers the same properties as regular Lycra, such as the soft, luxurious feeling and superb fit but also gives your swimsuit extended wear, resistance to fading and ensures the 'saggy bottom' is a thing of the past!
Lycra Xtra Life is 5-10 times more resistant to chlorine and pool chemicals than regular Lycra. This makes it an excellent choice for chlorine resistant swimwear. And the best news of all? All Maru costumes that contain Lycra contain Lycra Xtra Life, giving you the perfect combination of comfort and long-lasting swimwear.
Chlorine Proof Fabric
If you are looking for chlorine proof swimwear that's almost indestructible, then look for one that is 100% polyester and contains PBT.
PBT swimwear fabrics are by far the most durable and long lasting. Although not as soft as Lycra based fabrics, Polyester/PBT blends are undoubtedly an ideal choice if you want to purchase extra long-lasting swimwear.
It's important to note that the Polyester/PBT blend fabrics don't contain any Lycra and therefore are less stretchy than their Lycra containing counterparts. This means you'll have to be a little more careful when choosing your size. Make sure that you refer to our size charts and always feel free to contact us if you have any queries about sizing.
